These are my links for April 16th:

Ascent vs. rubiTrack vs. TrailRunner: powerbook_blog – Jog stellt einen Vergleich zwischen verschiedenen Programmen zur Auswertung von Laufdaten an.
TrailRunner hab ich mir schon vor einigen Wochen angesehen; gestern auch rubiTrack; Ascent wird noch folgen.
rubiTrack finde ich einfacher und übersichtlicher – TrailRunner hingegen ist kostenlos und man kann auch Strecken planen.
Wichtig ist für mich auch der Import von den aufgezeichneten iPhone Daten; da verwende ich ja iTrail (wie schon erwähnt). Das klappt mit TrailRunner ganz hervoragend.

Comments on hints can be very helpful sometimes.
Time Tracker – TimeTracker
TimeTracker is a quick-and-dirty application that displays the contents of your Time Machine backups, and shows what's changed since the previous backup. TimeTracker is in an extremely early state, and is as such very unpolished (for example, it doesn't yet have an icon).
Time Machine: poor man’s version control — ptone – How to diff files from time machine backup. It claims not to work with network based time machine backups (like mine is!). I will have a look into this.

ExpressionEngine to WordPress – Here are two scripts to export a expression engine database and import it into wordpress.
Umbrello UML Modeller – UML Moddelling tool for KDE.
It should also run with KDE 4 Mac.
.: KDE 4 Mac :. – KDE 4 on Mac OS.
Currently just as a "technology preview", but it should reach a stable status with KDE 4.1.0.
Installation can be done by downloading a few packages, but also with Macports.
After that there should be many KDE application available, which can be compiled for MacOS X.

Micromat – Syphone – Syphone ist ein Mac Programm zur Verwaltung der iPhone SMS. Es arbeitet mit dem Adressbook zusammen und kann SMS archivieren. Das Programm ist allerdings noch Beta und hat noch einige Bugs – siehe Support Forum.

GeekTool und iTunes

GeekTool ist eine nette kleine Mac OS X Systemerweiterung, die den Schreibtischhintergrund über das bloße Anzeigen eines hübschen Bildes hinaus erweitert. Mit GeekTool lassen sich Shell-Skripte und -Kommandos oder der Inhalt von Log-Dateiein anzeigen.
Bei mir ist das beispielsweise das system.log, die Ausgabe von top, uptime und der Titel des in iTunes aktuell laufenden Liedes.

Während die ersteren Dinge trivial zu konfigurieren sind, bediene ich mich für die iTunes Titelanzeige eines kleinen AppleScripts:

tell application “System Events” to set running to (name of processes) contains “iTunes”

if running is true then tell application “iTunes” to if player state is playing then “Now Playing in iTunes: ” & name of current track & ” – ” & artist of current track

Das ganze einfach im Skripteditor abspeichern; beispielsweise unter ~/Library/Scripts/iTunes_playing.scpt.
In Geektool legt man als neuen Eintrag ein “Shell Command” an und trägt als Command “osascript ~/Library/Scripts/iTunes_playing.scpt” ein.

Das Ganze sieht dann beispielsweise so aus:

Auf dem Blog von Jonas Salling war es seit 1. Juni letzten Jahres still. Heute meldet sich der Schöpfer von Salling Clicker wieder zu Wort und kündigt dabei gleich etwas Neues an.
Es hört sich nach einer neuen Version seiner Software mit Support von neuen Telefonen und mit neuen Features an.
Mein Tip ist Support von Windows Vista und ein Symbian 9.1 Client.

Golem berichtet, dass XING eine API zur Verwendung der Plattform aus externen Anwendungen bereitstellt. Was mir da sofort einfällt wäre ein Sync- und Verwaltungsprogramm für meinen Mac. Das wäre doch mal eine gute Anfangsidee – für ein OpenSource Projekt?

Neue Adium Version

Seit Sonntag gibt es eine neue Version von Adium: Adium 1 .0.2 bietet eine Latte von Verbesserungen. Nichts allzu aufregendes, aber bei wem Adium desöfteren die Grätsche macht oder bei dem der AIM File Transfer nicht funzt ist mit dem Update auf alle Fälle gut beraten… bei allen anderen schadets wahrscheinlich auch nicht.

Er ist da!!

Er ist schon seit Freitag da; ich bin extra nach Nürnberg zu TNT gefahren um ihn abzuholen. Das schwierigste beim “Umstieg” war die Namensgebung. Nach Marvin und Zaphod (und mein iPod heißt “Heart of Gold“) musste es natürlich wieder ein Charakter aus HHGTG sein. Die Wahl fiel auf Eddie, den Schiffscomputer.

Einen Heidenspaß macht natürlich Photo Booth. Gestern Abend nach dem Essen hat das die gesamte Runde köstlich amüsiert:

Inquisitor

Inquisitor brachte bisher eine Spotlight-ähnliche Suche als plug-in in die MacOS X Webbrowser Safari und Camino.
Jetzt gibt es Inquisitor auch als webbasierte Meta-Suchmaschine. Dabei können neben Google auch Yahoo!, A9, amazon.com, Digg, Flickr und Technorati durchsucht werden. Sieht super aus und lässt sich super anwenden.
(Die Vorschaubilder im obigen Screenshot werden übrigens von der Firefox Erweiterung BetterSearch erzeugt.)
